Whistle Blast 2015

Musician Mary Curran and the pupils of St. Brids worked very hard in the run up to their Christmas Carol Service.

 

The pupils performed their own Christmas composition playing percussion instruments and singing Christmas carols including: ‘Reindeers are Leaping’ and ‘The Snow is Falling Its Christmas time’.

 

The Upstart Programme is funded by the Mayo County Council.

Christmas Lunch

Collite very kindly sponsored a Christmas lunch for the pupils of St. Brids Special School in McDonalds Restaurant. Lots of festive fun was had by all.

Shoe Box Appeal

November, 2015

 

41 Boxes were collected by the pupils and families of St. Brids Special School. These gift filled shoes boxes were sent to children in Africa and Eastern Europe for this years Christmas Shoe Box Appeal 2015.

 

The boxes were filled with pens, pencils, colouring books, tooth brushes, hair brushes and some treats.

MON  MAR 14 

 

Class 3 are preparing to take a trip to see the new mosaic that was unveiled at Knock Basilica. It is one of the largest mosaics of its kind in Europe and Rev Michael Neary D.D., Archbishop of Tuam, officially unveiled it. It comprises of more than 1.5 million individual pieces of mosaic. Class 3 are very much looking forward to their trip and will have pictures to follow.

TUE MAR 15
 

To commemorate the centenary of the 1916 Rising and to celebrate 100 years since the Proclamation of the Irish Republic, St Brids will be having a flag raising ceremony on this day. Two members of the Defence Forces visited our school before Christmas and we were presented with a National Flag and a high quality copy of the Proclamation which was produced from the Defence Forces Printing Press. St. Brid’s will raise the National Flag in our very own special ceremony on the 15th March and the Proclamation will be read.

WED MAR 16
 

St. Brid’s Special School will have be closing for our St. Patrick’s day and Easter Break for 2 weeks. We all return to school on April 4th. Our principal Cathy wishes pupils and staff a Happy and Healthy Break. She looks forward to seeing you upon your return to school.
